作品タイトル：隠岐の未来を照らす”灯籠”の風景
本施設は、隠岐の歴史・現在・未来をつなぎ、人々を迎え入れ、そして送り出す象徴的な場として計画した。敷地の特性と地域の文脈を踏まえ、「灯籠」をデザインの核に据えることで、隠岐らしい風景の継承と新たな交流の創出を目指している。
かつて石灯籠は、港や道の目印として人々の暮らしを支え、旅人や漁師を導く存在であった。それは単なる光源ではなく、世代を超えて受け継がれる心象風景として、地域の記憶に深く刻まれてきた。本計画では、そうした灯籠の役割を現代のまちづくりに読み替え、多世代が集い、交わる交流の場として再構成している。
過去の記憶を尊重しながら「新しくて古い風景」をつくり出すことで、本施設は未来に向けた新たな隠岐の景観を形づくる。時を経て「隠岐らしい町並み」の一部として定着し、人々に親しまれる風景として育まれていくことを意図している。この場所に集う人々の営みがまちの賑わいとなり、地域の未来をやさしく照らしていく。

This project envisions a symbolic place that connects Oki’s past, present, and future, welcoming people as they arrive and gently sending them off as they depart. Responding to the site’s characteristics and the local context, the design adopts the motif of the Tōrō—a traditional Japanese stone lantern—as its central concept, aiming to inherit Oki’s distinctive landscape while creating new opportunities for exchange and interaction.
Historically, Tōrō served as landmarks along harbors and roads, guiding travelers and fishermen in their daily lives. More than simple sources of light, they became enduring mental landscapes, deeply rooted in the collective memory of the community across generations. In this project, the role of the Tōrō is reinterpreted within a contemporary architectural context, reconfigured as a place where people of all ages can gather, meet, and connect.
By respecting the memories of the past while shaping a “new yet familiar landscape,” the facility forms a renewed vision of Oki’s future scenery. Over time, it is intended to become an integral part of the “Oki-like townscape,” growing into a familiar and cherished presence for the community. The everyday activities that unfold here will generate vitality for the town, softly illuminating the future of the region.
